We just hosted some pirate craziness here for my #1 cutie who turned five! Of course, I’ve had my eye on his invitation for awhile now … actually, it inspired the idea to have a pirate party. (Is it weird that I like to plan backwards? I always start with the invite or the holiday card first and plan the event or the outfits for photos second. Does anyone else do that? Or is it just because I am obsessed with paper?)
At the time I ordered the invitations, I also scooped up some square stickers. I was just going to use them for gift bags, but then as the party ideas started to develop, I realized that I could use them for cupcake toppers too. Genius! (Ok, more like time saver – after seeing the crazy pirate ship cake that my five year old suggested I make, I quickly convinced him how great loaded sprinkle cupcakes would be with these pirates on top that said his name, of course.) Whew! I just trimmed up some black card stock 1/4″ and sandwiched in a toothpick.
We had a great little party with pirate booty, eye patches, swashbuckling, treasure hunting and plank walking. It was a big success for all the ages involved, and relatively easy to put together. Now, if I could just remember to use my camera at the party. Aaarrgh matey.
